It seems this month has started off with a bang virtually all across this country. I didn't realize how bad nature's fireworks were here last night until I saw my yard this morning. I knew several ear popping lightning strikes had been close but seeing all the bark & snapped off 6 to 8 ft tree limbs I knew for sure how close it was and gave thanks that my house had not been struck and a huge oak had not come down. A lightning storm the night before had just missed me with a downdraft (micro-burst) & lightning had started a small forest fire along I-10.
High temperatures the last couple of weeks has resulted in heat index values reaching 112 to 115 for some neighborhoods. Forecast for the next 7 days is for more severe storms with possible 2 to 4" of rain daily resulting in a watch out for flash flooding.
Realizing others in this world have it much worse weather-wise in dealing with tornadoes, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, etc., along with families in places like west Florida who are still living in tents or under blue tarps since last years hurricane destruction, I realize how protected and blessed my family and friends have been and give thanks to Him for it.
