This morning Vancouver Island, Canada, a quake of 6.8 mag struck @ 6:16 EDT followed by another 4.4 @ 8:43 EDT. Those times would be during night times there. Full moon cycle has started.

I see where it has now been revised to a 6.5, still bad stuff at that.

It was either a 6.5 or a 6.8 (pretty sure it was 6.5) I went through in 1991 in the Philippines. I was riding with a guy and at first I thought something had gone wrong with his tire. That was the biggest one I'd ever felt. It happened just a month or so before Mount Pinatubo blew its stack.

Mount Pinatubo was a fun one. The Smart People© decided it was going to blow up and spew crap all over Clark Air Base. So they evacuated everybody to Subic NAS on the other side of the mountain. Then when it blew it hit Subic first. When it really cut loose it did do some major damage to Clark. So much so that we abandoned it completely. (Part of the reason was damage, but a bigger reason was the Filipinos wanted a whole lot more money to keep it there than we were willing to pay. Volcano damage was a convenient excuse to walk away completely.)

Anyway, I got a front row center view of the volcano blowing while a typhoon whipped stuff everywhere, lightning flashing at the volcano, etc. It was scary but beautiful. I was sitting outside in a car where I planned to sleep, wondering if I was gong to wake up dead in the morning. (At this stage in life, I'm pretty sure I didn't.)

    A 6.5 @ 6:22; 4.9 @ 6:36; 6.6 @ 5:39; 6.8 @ 6:16; 4.4 @ 8:43; 4.3 @ 7:13; &  5.2 @ 16:27.

I was in a 5.9 in VA. I was lying down when I looked up to see the fan swaying....ran outside to see what was going on when a lady who uses a wheelchair
Earthquake Img_0014 had run up the hill and across the street to ask me if that was an earthquake. She forgot she could not walk. Needless to say.....she was divorced for faking it. She was scamming her own husband who was a minister. I don't l know how he found out unless he had security cameras.
We had a couple cracks in the stonework on the house that had to be repaired and one crack in the foundation of the garage.  My friend who lived 5 miles away had the whole yard slide down the hill along with her deck. I had a lot of pictures fall off a dresser in one room and my teddy bear fell out of his chair.

As a child I experienced 2 major earthquakes and a coupe small shakes.

The first was the Good Friday earthquake in Alaska. We were eating when it hit. Mom was spooning
pureed liver in my brothers mouth and he was not enjoying it.We were all laughing at his baby protest.
When world started shaking Dad grabbed me and my sister and ran  outside. He manage to get a car door
open and then tried to get us in the car that was bouncing up and down. Mom came out carrying my brother
and lost a boot in the snow. I hit my head on car door frame as dad finally got me in the car. It seemed funny
at the time but I was only 2-1/2. It's funny how vivid the pictures of that day are for me.

We were transferred to California in 1968. In February 1971 we were treated to another shaking. This one
scared me. I was in third grade and I guess had developed some sense to be scared. I was sleeping next to the wall
and my sister next to me. The current of quake would push me away from wall and she thought I was jumping on
bed and shoved me back against the wall. I was a bit bruised bit fine. But at that age thought the world was gonna end.
I packed my prized processions in a pillow case and toted it around. When school reopened I refused to go back. I was
not gonna leave home. They took me to a doctor because I would get hysterical and in California style he prescribed a
small glass of wine to "settle my nerves". So they'd give me about 4-6 ounces before dragging me to school. I was a tiny
child and in third grade was about 40 pounds and 6 oz was alot. But it made me chill and manage to get me to stay at
school. Then at night I got a night cap. Can you imagine this as a prescription today? But in reality the wine was less
harmful than the drugs I would have got had this been today. I can see the Tyrolia bottle in my mind. It looked like
a bunch of grapes with a stem out the top.

In the past 42 years here in Tennessee we have had several quakes north and west of us. We mostly hear rumble but have
felt a little shake a time or two.

My pal and buddy for about 6 weeks of my very young life. Tyrolia by Earnest and Julio Gallo. When I kinda developed a taste for it I'd grab it
by the neck and take a swig. When mom caught me she weaned me and rethought the doctors orders. LOL
