She's automatically smarter than all of us because she was elected to office.
Rookie Democrat Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was trying to pull off a stunt while she went on a hunt for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, but she was in the wrong building.
She wanted to confront McConnell in-person to discuss the government shutdown, but she couldn’t find him. She was rushing around with a letter that would urge him to vote for the government to reopen and deal with border wall discussions another time.
She made it seem like McConnell was in hiding or nowhere to be found, but it turned out that Ocasio-Cortez and her Democrat friends were in the wrong building.
They called the stunt #WheresMitch on Twitter, but unfortunately for them they eventually realized they were in the wrong office. Although, they still delivered the letter urging him to vote to reopen government to his chief of staff and reportedly declined to “stake out the Senate floor” according to Fox News.
The stunt – dubbed #WheresMitch on social media – came to an unceremonious and anti-climactic end after the pack first went to the wrong office of McConnell, then delivered the letter to his chief of staff, and ultimately declined to stake out the Senate floor.
Watch below:
Ocasio-Cortez roamed around other representatives such as Rashida Tlaib, Katie Hill, and Lauren Underwood who carried the letter, which was apparently signed by over 30 fellow rookie lawmakers.
“They reportedly first marched McConnell’s personal office in the Russell Senate Office Building – only to find out that he doesn’t work there. They shortly fled to the Republican’s Capitol office, where according to The Hill, the group was greeted by the senator’s chief of staff Don Stewart who cordially promised to deliver the letter to his boss.
For Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow Democrats, McConnell’s absence from his office was the proof that he’s avoiding them. “He’s running away from us – so we’re leaving our letter everywhere he’ll be,” Ocasio-Cortez said on Instagram. “Where’s Mitch? … You can run but you can’t hide!”
Even more embarrassing was the fact that they tried to leave a copy of the letter at the Senate GOP cloakroom, where McConnell’s personal office is, however the Democrats didn’t make enough copies of the letter. Thankfully, McConnell’s staff was nice enough to permit the Democrats to make more copies of their letter using their copier.
“McConnell’s office staff saved the Democrats’ quest by allowing them to use their printer. “They didn’t make a copy of their letter so we’re making a copy for them,” per a report by The Hill.
Seems like her social media stunt totally backfired. Instead of trying to make a point by recording a social media stunt, she should be trying to figure out her way around her new job and doing more productive things.
It’s always funny when a political stunt fails and people can get a good laugh, but someone should probably give Ocasio-Cortez a map of where she works.
She might need it for her next hashtag stunt.
I really hope she's front and center for the next 2 years!
